Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a customer satisfaction or refund policy?
YES. We guarantee our services completely

What is your experience? How many events have you done?
I personally have 20 years experience. I have performed at over 1000 events in those years, and I am proud to say that I have always received great reviews from clients. The same goes for our other DJ's/entertainers who have similar experience.

Do you take requests?
YES, and you know what? We actually play them too! Our biggest commitment is making sure YOUR guests have a great time. We will play their requests if they are reasonable. We usually will not play a hard core rap song or head banging alternative rock at a family event of mixed ages, so don't worry about that.

How are you different from other disc jockeys?
Our DJ's/entertainers are interactive and fun. They get your guests involved making the party the memorable and fun-filled event that it should be. Other DJ's may just stand there and push buttons. If you want your guests to rave about your party or reception, we are the guys you want!

Do you specialize in a specific genre of music?
Our DJ's/entertainers bring a wide variety of music on compact disc and computer to all events. We will consult with you prior to your event to determine any special requests or types of music that will be needed. We want ALL of your guests to tell you that they had a blast at your event. This is why we bring so much music to our events.  Check out our music database by clicking here.

Do you require a deposit? What is your cancellation policy?
Yes, our deposit amounts are just $95 for a general function or private party, and just $295 for a wedding reception. Once you have a signed contract with us, cancellation must be in writing within 45 days of the event.

Do you have back-up equipment in case of failure?
YES. Always. We would be crazy not to bring backup equipment to all of our events. P & M Sound keeps our equipment updated so that it works all of the time. We are happy to say that in our 20+ years of service, we have only had one equipment failure, and the backup was on location. Remember, we gurantee our services.

What are your qualifications? Have you been professionally trained or certified?
I
have a bachelor's degree in communications from Curry College, Milton, MA, where I worked in radio broadcasting and television.

What is your standard attire?
Our standard attire is tuxedo, but we can also dress down for themed events such as those with a tropical theme or oldies night, etc. Let us know what you would like your DJ/entertainer to wear and as long as it's not too revealing, we'll do it!

Will you also be the Master of Ceremonies (MC)?
YES. Our DJ's/entertainers are experienced in handling emcee services and the various announcements that need to be done at events. For weddings, your DJ will meet you and discuss all of the events that will take place at your reception so that he can work with your other vendors to organize your reception. You will have no worries. Hakuna Matata!

Can I provide my own music?
Of course! When we consult with you prior to your event, we can discuss this as well.

What are your hourly rates?
Depending on the type of function, our hourly rates can vary. Weddings are a different price because they involve more planning and organizing. Please call us for information on our packages to see what you will get for your money. Or click here for an INSTANT PRICE QUOTE.

Is it appropriate to tip the DJ?
If you feel your DJ has delivered exceptional service, then absolutley. As in any service industry, please do so only for exceptional service and base your gratuity on your level of satisfaction.

Should we feed the DJ?
Our clients are not obligated to feed our DJ's. I know other DJ companies have a clause written right in their contract that the DJ must be provided with a meal. This is absurd!  With the price of most so called "vendor meals" at $50.00 or more a plate, we would never expect our clients to pay that amount for a meal for us.  Plus, we are working anyways! Our DJ's don't have the time, nor do they take the time, to sit down and eat a full course meal at a wedding or party.  If we do get fed, we only eat the main course and then it's right back to work!  We have things to do at the event you hired us for!  So don't worry about this at all. Just a quick note regarding this...If you do feed your vendors, insist that they get fed when the bride and groom get fed.  That way, they will be ready to start the party when your guests finish their meals and there will be no delay or down time! Many times, venues feed the vendors last, and that leaves them eating often in another room while your guests have to wait for the fun to start.  Don't let this happen!

Should we provide a table?
Most function halls and hotels already provide a space and a table, but it is nice when our clients double check to make sure at least one 6 foot table will be availabale for the DJ. We also appreciate when space for our speakers and lights are taken into consideration. A 10ft X 10ft space is perfect.

Can we attend one of your events to observe you?
I have always agreed that private events should stay private out of respect of my clients on their special day. For this very reason, I do not allow prospective clients to attend privately booked events. How would you feel if an uninvited guest showed up at your wedding to talk to one of your vendors when they were supposed to be working your event? In addition, all of our events are customized to our client's wishes, and they may not be your wishes. Attending an event is not a good way to evaluate a DJ service. Please see the testimonials of past clients to get an idea of how P & M Sound makes your event the success you wish for! You need to fully trust your DJ to make the event a true success. I also invite you to contact me for an appointment to meet me in person.  I will gladly arrange this.

Do you have a CD demo or video demo?
P & M Sound does not provide demos of any of our performances. The reason that we do not produce a high quality, edited demos for our clients to view is because these are very costly and they often do not work to convey the message that P & M Sound customizes every event to the clients wishes. Remember, anyone can produce a high quality product like a commercial to market themsleves and make them look good. But beware, appearance isn't everything! Many video demos are over-produced and too slick, and only feature one event. The DJ may be hiding behind all those special affects. Be wary of demos.  The best way to select a DJ is to view testimonials and speak to past clients.  This website is loaded with testimonials and I would be happy to provide names and numbers of past clients for you.
